When my husband and I had our son, we had no idea that mold illness was what we were signing up for. When he started showing signs, we made the commitment to all-natural, nontoxic products in our house, no exceptions. Candles included.

The early years in his sickness were especially tough, and as I stared out at the beige, bland collection of products that now adorned my home, it had become a reflection of what was inside, as well. The appointments, late nights, worry, and restricted lifestyle had weighed upon my spirit, and those of my husband and our sweet boy. For any of you who have been dealt a hand of lasting illness, my heart goes out to you. But like a powerful phoenix emerging from the ashes—or a clumsy peacock stumbling to a stand after taking a nose dive—I took a leap.

Bright Birdy was formed to bring color back to my family and be a bright pop in an industry of muted tones and scents.

I had enough of the same, simple fragrance and packaging. I craved complexity and a positive creative outlet to break through the depressive state. So with my little guy at my side, I started pouring. We started with florals, then added some spice, some woods, and holiday deliciousness. We committed to all organic ingredients without compromising. We chose beeswax and coconut oil to protect our son’s endocrine system. We said “Yes, girl!” to color. To be honest, in the middle of that valley, we said “Yes.” to a joyful lifeline.

I hope you get the chance to meet Finch someday. The resilience of his joy through hardship challenges me daily. He is our Bright Birdy, and now, yours too.
